One point that occurs to me: We may see true LAWS/autonomous systems in a naval or air warfare context well before land engagements. The parameters are simpler and the target sets are clearer. This may give everybody some practical experiences in finding out where the guardrails need to be. (Because I think the French are idiots to think this stuff is going away just because better ADA or jammers will be available) On the other hand, we have had two world wars now where the defining shift of the United States getting involved for real was a cruise ship being sunk. So fingers crossed that it isn't a Russian, Iranian, Chinese, or other robot sub sinking a Carnival Cruise liner on holiday because it thought it was a carrier.
