I'm always thrilled to see more artists speak out about AI. Toss my support in the ring! Sorry you've had to deal with so much toxicity around it too. AI has been a plague across many fields at this point, yet support for it continues. It's honestly a shame how many artists support these models being used but I guess some folks like digging their own proverbial graves. One thing that frustrates me most with the AI debate is how hostile people are towards those they steal from because it's a reminder of how that's become the norm. I remember when the default online was to call people out for using someone else's anything. Their writing, artwork, music, jokes, even personal photos. Those were the early days of social media when dinos still roamed the earth. There was shame behind copying or outright stealing, and not much to gain from being seen as a thief by the handful of people who stumbled across your blog or profile. Now, theft is the standard, those who call it out are whiny b+++++ who need to get with the program, and the excuses are the same whether it's art or anything else. "If it's online it belongs to everyone, nothing is original anyway, just adapt to be better, it's inevitable so why complain." It's a downer how society continues to prove that doing the right thing only matters until it becomes lucrative enough not to. Steal someone else's passion to get a million views or enough money to pay rent? Heck yeah! It's not just digital art. Respect for other people's creations has tanked overall thanks to a version of the internet where everything can be monetized or make you popular with a few clicks, and all you have to do is snag what somebody else made. That's modern tech for ya, and it's not going away as long as this many people benefit from it. It doesn't mean we shouldn't stand up for artists anyway.
