HMW isn't wrong: the automation of work threatens to eliminate jobs. Impoverishing workers - so killing the market. No market, no sales, no economy. "Business owners might want to consider this..." - Sure. But it's a variant of the Tragedy of the Commons problem. If ALL businesses automate, the market is crushed. But every business will strive to automate as much as possible, eliminate labor as much as possible, while everyone else keeps employing people to keep the market alive. Greed, in other words, undermines a public good. Always - unless regulated by government (legislation, fiat). Meanwhile, inequality increases while wealth & ownership of corporate assets is consolidated in the hands of ever fewer people: oligarchs. Is society as a whole poorer because of this? Absolutely - but the very few VERY wealthy are staggeringly wealthy. Look at the Russian oligarchs. Two problems: this means everyone not an oligarch becomes progressively poorer, until they're near-destitute. Essentially slaves. And there's a natural progression at the top where one gang or single dictator gradually bumps off all the oligarchs so it all belongs to him. See Russia under Putin. His oligarchs are dwindling in number: they keep falling out of windows or getting arrested for tax problems then dying in prison. Doesn't matter if you're a fascist (Hitler, Mussolini) or a communist (Xi) or just a kleptocrat (Putin): they're all the same thing with different labels. A label Trump REALLY wants to wear. These are HIS people - his role models. People he's raved about, maintained he gets along with really well. This is where America is headed under Trump. Unless there's a landslide election & Democrats win Congress, Senate AND the White House. Anything less & the GOP/Trump will steal it, have the Electoral College hand them the victory or if necessary, SCOTUS. So there better be a massive turnout for the vote in November. Don't wait: register anyone not already signed up to vote, and motivate people you know to vote. Your vote is perishable: use it or lose it. Trump assures us "You won't have to vote again ever - we'll fix it so you don't have to."
