I was learning how AI is made and something interesting I learned is that AI CAN make new things. Humans aren't random. If we came up with ideas at random, nothing would make sense, as it would be disconnected from our experience, including basic sense. We make new ideas by taking existing ideas and building on them with purpose. AI generates "random" output, then rates that outputs "loss" based on how well it reflects its training data. It starts out with what is, as far as we are concerned, for this conversation, "random", which means it can generate new ideas like how monkeys banging on typewriters can, theoretically, wrote Shakespear. But the ability to take existing ideas and building on it with purpose is entirely unique to humans (or maybe some other creatures, too). AI makes random nonsense, and the better its trained the less "original" it is, and humans are the opposite. Nothing is random. We create with purpose
