I'm an artist in the video game industry, when AI stuff first popped up on my radar, which was at least a year before the general public became aware of it (sorry for sounding like a hipster) my first reaction was: "Oh, interesting, think of all the ways we can use these tools in prototyping designs and communicating ideas an quickly exploring concepts." That's what I thought AI was going to be about, and to the degree that I dabble in it, it's how I use it (ex. as a photo bashing resource or for pitching stuff to the project manager) But, this class of mean-spirited AI-worshipping scum that has cropped up truly degusts me. The only thing worse than their claim that 'AI can replace artists' is the fact that they think it can happen. I've worked in indie studios with 8 people and I've worked in half-a-billion in revenue companies with hundreds of people and in exactly none of these places can people who work in art departments be replaced by people whose greatest creative achievement is writing prompts :D it's a laughable idea for anyone who has ever worked in an art production and knows how much planning, coordinating, and syncing there is. Everybody thinks they can be an artist until the art director rolls up with the most micro notes, or that one guy from marketing and his totally left-field idea :D Besides, a lot of artists are like me and have learned AI tools and if need be will incorporate it into their workflow. Why would companies hire 'AI artists' who can't draw, when they can hire an artists who can easily learn AI :P
