Too many rich people get addicted to increasing their wealth and power, and forget they still live in our society. Perhaps somewhat insulated most days, but food riots, complete breakdown of our civic order, a complete cratering of our economy would still impact them. If they were all smart, they would be promoting a change in our Socio-economic-political system to allow them to maintain significant wealth, while living in a better, cleaner, safer, happier country where they would not be afraid to go out in public. Perhaps you think I exaggerate? Perhaps you are underestimating the acceleration of not just 'AI" but also all the other ways we have automated away the need for workers, many of which are still being deployed and more being developed every day. Perhaps you recall learning about the "Industrial Revolution", if so, ask yourself, did it ever stop? Did it not in fact continue to accelerate in many ways? Why do you think we have been having so much political upheaval in recent decades? "Occupy Wallstreet", "Tea Party", Trump and his MAGA? People feel it coming, and feel their gradual loss in security over the years. This will not end well.
