While this video certainly brings up good points, you can get lazy and dumber by using AI instead of thinking, I think it is quite misleading at the same time. Proper use of AI can really boost your intelligence to new levels if used correctly. You should see it as a wise collegue to which you can share your thoughts and get a lot of new ideas and thoughts back. This will increase your diversity of thoughts. But of course, just as you would not just accept what a collegue is saying without thinking, the same is true for AI. You use it to get unstuck and new possibilities to enhance your own thinking process. If you use AI to replace your own thinking and contemplation, yes sure, that will not be good for you. Also, while it is true that LLM works the way described in the video, they really have the capability of deep reasoninging in practice. No, they of course have zero real understanding, but their actual results speaks for themselves. They can help in really high level complex stuff for which there is almost no real specific training data to be found. It feels a bit like magic, but it often does work. Yes, sometimes it hallucinates or come up with not so good advice, but if you are an expert in your field this is not a big problem. You can then dismiss it rather quickly.
