as a truck driver i will say you cant automate this industry im sorry lol.. are you going to fit every truck with an engineer and an offloading crew? we do alot more than just drive in a straight line. we inspect and service the truck constatnly and thats only because of experience. we offload we switch trailers and we make illegal turns. how would an automated truck make a right hand turn in a busy city? the fact is it cant. thats why they talk about the last mile drivers. so you want to put a driver in the truck to drive the last mile and pay him next to nothing? hahahah if you dont pay him and hes driving a half million dollar vehicle with millions in cargo and millions to pay in insurance when he runs over that lady on the corner or drives over a civic. like you cant do this with unqualified drivers and you cant get qualified drivers unlesss you pay them. automated trucks are a dream that will never happen
