Several years ago while sitting at a red light on my 65 Panhead Electraglide in broad daylight an elderly woman hit me and planted me in her windshield. My antique family legacy bike was sent 119 yards on its side eventually and TOTALED. An officer coming the other way was my first alert as he stomped his brakes. Not wanting me to get stopped in the side of his cruiser he stopped. The woman declared I pulled in front of her. Had it not been for the witness, a police officer, she'd have been believed. My responsibility in this, I was in neutral knowing it was a long light on my way home from a long distance run. And I wasn't watching my mirrors. Since I learned to ride at 14 my uncle and his son taught me to pay constant attention to my mirrors. It's as important to know what is behind me as ahead! RESPONSIBILITY? no driver should be unattentive of the missile they are operating ( car drivers), no motorcyclist should allow themselves to be vulnerable from any of their vehicles 6 sides! Human dependency on AI or cruise control is extremely dangerous and human's blind Faith in their fellow man to be looking out for them is extremely misguided. FAULT?
