Yes, this advancement will absolutely put truck drivers out of the job. But preventing their creation on that basis alone is also wrong.
Advancements have always and will always put people out of jobs. Lots of farm hands lost jobs to tractors. Lots of tech workers are losing jobs to AI.
But if you refuse to allow advancement, you end up with our current port infrastructure. The largest economy on our planet, 25% of global GDP, but with one of the least efficient and most dangerous shipping ports as well. All because they refuse to allow any sort of automation, even for something as menial as opening a gate, it must be done by hand. That way the "professional gate opener" doesn't lose his job.
