All the big players are too scared to be left behind in the race, whether it be AI or nuclear weapons, or DNA research, or bioweapons. They all know it's wiser if they all stopped but at the same time they won't risk being the only one that does. It's basically the Tragedy of the Commons.
We're doomed. Which is probably a good thing. We need a major reset and go back to basics. Did you know that over 80% of the living animal mass on earth is either human or is domesticated for human food. Crazy. We've gone too far.
