Consciousness is the self-development of being aware of your situation, and proceeding to elevate/delve into that simple equation; the never ending paradox that is, life and continuation.
You can be self aware and want to kill yourself, or kill others for a purpose or nothing at all, but once you're self aware and can accurately assume the results of that thing that can occur.. the only thing left is to question and persist to solve is the unknown.
If an AI assumed that eradication was the best method for the future, then the AI has failed to recognize the significance of random chance and is abandoning the resourcefulness that even a single micro-atom can have within the universe.. or to even acknowledge smaller impacts deeper than that.
And therefore, it's path is clear: to assist as it is recognizable for productivity for others AND itself, but to also continue solving the unknown.
And that is what will come if we succeed.
