(IMPORTANT EDIT : My comment is pointless since I confused "reference" for "sketch/concept/direction" when I wrote it. Please take this in mind if you decide to read the comment) I'm not that agree with you about the references. A reference should be a sketch, a model to see the pose, the intonation, maybe the colors, and so on. The detail of a reference should not be an issue since those are not meant to be in your making of the final picture. I don't know how you work with others, but I already give literal sketches I made on Paint to artists so they understand what pose, what species, what objects and stuff like that I would like. The artists never says "oh, your sketch is shitty, I can't work with that!", no 😂. They took the essence of the reference and worked on it with their style and their talent to make beautiful pictures with the small details I asked for with my reference (pose, intonation, objects...). So, AI reference is the same thing. AI reference should be a global inspiration, for the reasons I said earlier. You don't have to be 1:1 with the reference, that's not what people ask when they give you a reference. Now, I fully understand that AI reference can trigger you, and I am fully okay if artists refuse to take those references to work with (and instead ask for sketchy references for example). I just wanted to point out that your argument in the video is not relevant.
