Prompting is not creating art. It is actually keeping you away from the process of creating something with musical instruments, pens, clay or whatever and having fun while doing it. It not only steals the work of others, but it also steals the joy of creating from you. I have been making music my whole life, have taken photos and got better at it. I used a small model house and put it in a little box of sand to make it look like a house on the moon for an album cover (didn't work, looked like shit). I played in lots of cities, met a lot of people, felt the music or didn't. Slept on couches or could not sleep. Was in the studio or at home trying to finish a song I later found out was shit. Finished my best songs in a much shorter time. I had fights with the other band members and lots of great conversations. That is what makes you an artist. Enjoying the process, not taking the shortest path to some kind of product. You will never be as proud of a prompt as you are of 35 minutes of music that took 2 years to make. It does not work like that. Being proud of something is only possible, if there was struggle involved, work, fun and memories. But gatekeeping the artist community is not the point we should be making. It is not about who is allowed to call himself an artist or not. It is about how people let AI keep them away from creating. And imo, that is why AI art is not art.
