When someone claims an AI threatened them, they're falling for a sophisticated parlor trick; the system is just statistically reflecting language patterns, often based on the user's own prompts.
Ultimately, fearing today's AI is like being terrified for the assistant in a magician's "sawing a person in half" illusion. The fear is real, but it stems from not seeing the mechanics behind the magic.
