Excessive use of ChatGPT (or any LLM) as advice has led to significant decrease in critical thinking. People are for whatever reason less skeptical of a machine making up answers by combining words of a million other people than they are hearing answers from a single person. This leads to less fact checking. Brainrot is real; it happens when people stop asking questions because they already found the answer that they like. It doesn't take GenAI to be like this, but it certainly makes it a lot easier.
