The idea is that AI is a tool that allows you to do something, "just like a wheelchair" or another tool, and taking it away from people is disempowering people the way banning wheelchairs would be. Its an issue already within ability.
People complain that them not being able to make popular art means they are unfairly devalued and that they should be given all the tools necessary to make popular art... except this is like "if people dont buy my kids crayon art theyre bigots" lol.
