AI art offers something we all already take advantage of: convenience. The most common argument I'm seeing here is "don't use AI art- if you want to create art just devote the ti.e and effort in to becoming a better artist. That is a valid argument but it ignores the fact most people are working too hard just to survive to have enogh free time to devote to art. They still want to express themselves or use art for a project, tgey just can't afford to pay an artist or take the time to become better at art themselves. AI art makes it easier to express ideas you have without the need to spend 10k hours learning a skill. The "just learn the skill" argument falls flat when you apply it to other types of technology we take for granted. What, your driving a car? Why not just walk! Of course its going to take longer, but using a car is unfair to pedestrians! Why are you texting someone? Why don't you go visit them in person! Texting is unfair to people who want to have a face to face conversation! Why are you going to the doctor? If you're you should just go to medschool and become your own doctor! Why are you eating food you bought at the grocery store? You should just become a farmer and only eat the food you grow for yourself! AI art is a tool, nothing more. If its cheaper and easier to use a tool for a job, just about everybody is going to use the tool. If you have to dig a hole, you use a shovel if you have one available. That does not change the whole somebody else dug by hand. If my neighbor offers hole digging services by hand for $10 an hour and it takes 2 hours for him to dig a hole, but I have a shovel already and I can do the same job myself in 10 minutes, I am going to save myself the time and money of hiring him and dig it myself using the shovel as a tool. I'm not touching holes he has already dug nor told others not to use his hole digging services. Seems fair to me. Attacking people using a tool is not going to solve this problem. I don't think AI art is ever going to go away and it will continue to impove until we won't be able to tell the difference in a few years, but artists aren't going to just go away. People will still want to create thing for themselves and others. Music did not die after synthesizers were invented, like many music industry heads said it would back on the 60s and 70s. Movies did not stop being made after VHS was created. This is just another technological advancement that will be ubiquitous in a few years.
