So the kid had just got home from a trip to Catalina Island with his friends—that day: he also had just ordered uber eats, which h arrived after he supposedly killed himself. Though he supposedly shot himseld in the head, he managed to paint several rooms of his apartment with blood, including the bathroom where the shooting did not take place. The security camera that might have identified any intruder has its wires cut and the ME said on Zoom that he had a contusion on his face that was evidence of him being” punched in the face.” He was about to give a deposition in The NY Times suit against Open AI on copyright infringement. He was literally the one man who, as a witness, could sink the entire defense; and just weeks before he was going to make history by doing just that, he committed suicide. No medically do umebted history of depression, no evidence of suicidal ideation, no note, not Facebook post, no closing of accounts or putting his affairs in order—this meticulous and highly organized young man with his whole life ahead of him and zero history of mental illness just decides to up and shoot himself in an odd angle from the top of his own head while waiting for the Thai takeout—or whatever—to ring the bell. Yeah, right. We need independent reporting on this beyond just interviewing the parents, who are understandably not objective or reliable sources. Hard questions need to be put to the cops, to the ME, to Open AI founder Altman who keeps saying it was certainly suicide as if he were privy to inside details of the case. Why was the camera disabled? Who had access to it? When was it disabled? Why is the angle of the injury so contraindicative of a self administered gun shot wound and why was that ignored?
