There are no junior devs being hired right now. Tech companies overhired during Covid, then the economy cooled, so the tech companies started laying off all the extra headcount or moved it overseas. AI is just an excuse. If they announce they over hired or are struggling financially so they have to do layoffs then the stock price will drop. It is the reason they are doing layoffs but if they say they are using AI to increase productivity and don't need the head count(lies) the stock goes up,. No one has a crystal ball but I think it is going to take a few more years for the AI bubble to pop and for companies to gain a footing again before returning to focus on good engineering.
