you can't really understand the second part of the "controversy" as a non artist
as an artist when you take inspiration from another artists style, it's not gonna be exactly the same, but an AI if trained enough could do that
there are a few protective measures against artists stealing another artists style of the art looks too similar, like the artist having to pay royalties
but with AI becoming so prevalent you can say that eventually there won't be a person to pay royalties on behalf of the AI
