I kinda disagree with this take, not undervaluing human artist who put blood sweat and tears into their profession, but from the standpoint of it being "real" art.
How do artists get inspired to do their artwork?
From information, experiences, works they themselves saw. And personally, i don't see that much difference in the way human and AI Brains process this information visually.
The only real difference to me, is how the information that gets used in the creative process is aquired.
For humans, we actively experience the information in our brain, we walk around, see things, hear things, and our brain processes this information and turns the creative cogs, so to speak.
For artificial intelligence, this information is selectively fed to the brain by someone. It's basically as if you'd strap a child that knows nothing of the world to a chair, have it selectively watch recordings of art, and tell the child to draw something. It will obviously be solely based on what it saw.
But would it make the created artwork less real? I'd argue, if AI get's to a point, where it gets sensory input of the world around it, there wouldn't be much of a difference anymore. 'lest of course, it was restricted to not process that input in the creative process, kinda like how chatGPT has guardrails to prevent users interfacing with it at the backend influencing it.
