Which is worse: a singular superintelligence, or a society that is utterly infiltrated at all levels by stupid AI? Running our businesses, rescue services, social safety nets - all mired in layers of AI-governed bureaucracy designed to minimize cost, frustrate people out of trying, and backdooring quasi-legal maneuvers that it knows you don't have the financial resources to fight because it can see (or accurately estimate) your bank balance.
Imagine how health insurance is run, but that's how everything is run. We are getting very close to that future, realistically. It's already deciding who gets jobs with scraped data, cutting people off of health insurance, and spreading propaganda.
