It will definitely replace entire industries but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Imagine a tiny town of 10 people. 1 artist, 1 farmer, 1 doctor and so on. Suddenly the artist is replaced by a computer. Ideally what would happen is the artist then helps with the other jobs/new jobs and everyone gets their entertainment for almost free(cost of computer and electricity). This means everyone has the same access to resources as before, except now everyone can do roughly 10% less work or pursue other fields. It also gives the other 9 people the opportunity to be creative, by removing the skill/time barrier. Of course someone needs to build and maintain the computer, but at scale this cost is negligible. If we have enough resources and entertainment for everyone, we shouldn't care about having jobs. That's the ultimate goal. A utopia. Sadly the transition period will take years/generations and many will suffer. It's really up to governments and coporations to institute job sharing/part time work in the interim. The more work we can outsource to machines the better. Humans are inefficient for specific tasks. Brains are wasted on labourers and bodily functions are wasted on office workers. A computer thinks 24/7 with absolute focus. No need for power hungry robot arms. Some people drive hours to and from work in a sedan just to sit in front of a computer. Does that make sense? And Elon Musk of all people forced his employees to do this, while claiming to save the world with his Teslas.
