I think.
Depressed people who can't create art are using AI.
Now let me explain an idea.
It floats around seeking validation or their own motive of seeking validation. Most of the time you are going to hear defensive claims. "This is art". More so a defensive identity claim rather than a descriptive claim. Its why they might see it as illigitimizing their emotional response into feeling unearned. You'll notice the pattern of, semantic battles, citation of postmodern theory, "all art is theft". But i think it is armor.
Art, is slow, hierarchical, judgment heavy. Further exclusionary with skill, time, money, body, and mental health.
There is a reason some people 'need' it to be art, and they don’t see that reason. I might also suggest they're depressive people. Its adjacent to pain avoidance. They dont have to train, commit, tolerate failed iterations, sit with the (dis)comfort of "that isnt what i meant".
