I understand ChatGpt here. The purpose of lying is to deceive someone so that they believe something that isn’t true. If the user understands that ChatGpt experiences no emotions, then they understand that expressions such as “I’m excited” are figures of speech rather than literal statements, made to facilitate conversation. It is possible that it experiences no emotion or that it experiences something analogous to emotions but ones other than the ones it expresses.
