I don’t think they will replace trade jobs especially plumbers. Not for a long ass time anyway. This is because a job like plumbing is more of an art rather than a science. Yes you learn code and “the book” and the concepts of plumbing, and all the different things that go into it, that’s the science part. But every job is different and when you need to apply all that knowledge in different situations to make things work, that’s where the art comes in. There is a certain “feel” or intuition to it. Like there’s knowledge, and then there’s applying that knowledge with creative thinking. And until an AI can think creatively like a human, I don’t see it replacing them. Not to mention the physical part of the job. Not just brute strength, but like with fine motor skills, and needing to go at things at different angles when there is limited space…like that AI robot would have to be EXACTLY like a human in every way not just super smart….the robots that can walk around in open spaces and put groceries away or vacuum the floor aren’t going to cut it.
