I was somebody whom that commenter might've said was "gifted" in the artistic talent department. Ever since I was young, I could hand draw anything I was looking at and produce an almost photo copy of it. Not tracing, but actual hand to eye translation onto a page. I was labeled as 'gifted' and 'talented' at making these hand drawn captures of things I could see, but that is where the talent ended. See, I could never make my own original art because I have aphantasia. All I was ever able to do well was copy something I was looking at, but was incapable of imagining my own original artistic concept and draw that. Because of this, I thought for a long time that I was never going to be able to be an artist. At best, I could maybe be a street performer who draws portraits of people. I could make my own 'original' art only if I used reference photos for different parts of what I was trying to draw and copied those. At best, my art is an amalgamation of a lot of different artworks, and none of it belongs to me. All of that being said, I still don't support the use of AI even though it could help someone like me with a very clear disability in this field. This comment section has given me hope maybe I could become a great artist one day despite my disability to imagine anything in my own head with enough practice. Maybe one day, I can produce something completely original that I can truly feel proud of.
