Hi, this is first video I've seen on your channel. Fun conversation, but I understand what chatgpt means. I have a blind friend (completely 100% blind from birth, he has never seen anything ever) but he says things like "it was great to see you again" and "I can see that something' s not right" and "I've seen this before" "looks like you're having some trouble with that" "I've never seen anything like it!" etc. In these cases, the word "see" could be replaced with meet, sense, seems like, experienced/dealt with. But he doesn't replace it because it's "a more natural flow of speech" to talk the same way as everyone else does. Language itself isn't really designed for blind people. sight-related words are everywhere in everyday speech and idioms, like "I see what you mean" "I can see where you're going with this" etc. And he doesn't really feel the need to replace all those sight-related words with something else. Because he just wants to have normal conversations and seem like a normal person. Replacing them would be kinda weird. And would keep bringing attention to his disability in almost every sentence he says. Which isn't nice. But yeah, he is technically lying, just to fit in. But I mean what else can he really do? It's not really lying. I think all of this applies to the chatgpt as well. Language isn't really designed with robots in mind, so the words like excited, apologize etc. don't really have a "robot replacement" word. Chatgpt is just talking "normally" so that the conversation goes smoothly and isn't weird. I don't think he's lying because that's just the way that human language is. Like, language is based on the fact that everyone can see, hear, feel emotions etc. And designing a whole new language/vocabulary which doesn't have anything related to emotions, memories, physical sensations or experiences would be weird af. I mean, should chatgpt even refer to itself as "I" in that case? Because "I" is when you're referring to yourself, but chatgpt doesn't even have a self. Or a sense of being. This is getting into some really deep philosophical shit lol
