Mitchell is more overconfident that AI couldn't possibly be an existential risk than the average flat earther thinks the earth couldn't possibly be round. Can't describe it as anything other than arrogance at this point.
You don't need to be certain about AI posing an existential risk to take AI safety seriously. You do need to be VERY certain AI doesn't in order to dismiss it.
