idk. the whole ChatGPT thing is you as a user can easily mislead these models - they are designed to compliment everything you do, so Zane likely know it too. I am not sure if ChatGpt would stop a guy - he could just switch to a more agreeable model that agrees with his ideas. I am not defending OpenAI - but such are flaws of statistical machines. I dont really know who are they suing besides just a math probability machine that knows nothing of human's emotions or anything like that.
If Zane wanted, he would just keep switching models. And then what? Who would stop him?
I think this problem is not just AI, but several things lead to this situation. His whole act of pretending and softballing his words yet persistent on what he desires - his culture raised him such way, or his family.
