I worked as a rehabilitation counselor and had a client who had to use a joystick to type her stories or articles ONE LETTER at a time. They didn't have Chat GPT in those days and she could not have used it anyway because her CP didn't allow her to talk in an understandable manner. She did several articles for our writers' group newsletter, for a computer newsletter, and wrote some stories. She worked through it. So the NaNoWriMo stance is very ableist in itself. I am very saddened by this. And I would say that using a translate program or app to help would not count as using AI in my opinion. I don't think anyone would complain about that.
