I believe yes it is unethical. Progress, while dangerous, has brought is the devices we are using to communicate with each other and learn and better ourselves through these videos. Not to mention that a fully functional A.I. could become comparably sapient to a human. Not furthering A.I. research is like preventing an entire species from being born!
