I understand this perspective, and I used to feel the same way myself until I started creating with Midjourney. The fact that an art piece that is created using AI is not in the same category as one made by hand is unequivocal. However, the fact that different people can create different pieces based on their word selection and unique alteration/guidance of the generative process (the brush tool in Midjourney allows the user to generate alterations to a prompt confined to the selected area drawn out with the tool, allowing for a more precise process that can go on for hundreds of iterations until the desired result, which could be visualized beforehand, is manifested), makes it necessary to acknowledge that there is some kind of talent involved. In the case of a scenario where multiple people are tasked with generating a final image based on a concept and some of them are obviously in another league, it's almost like e-sports where yes, the players aren't running and jumping around playing conventional sports but they are engaged in a competitive activity that involves skill. Even though anyone can participate and some would say the skill involved in playing games is not relevant to any area other than the playing of video games themselves (not true), there are certain individuals who rise to the top, who people want to follow and watch, and who are paid to take part in the activity. Not a perfect analogy due to the nature of one concept being arguably subjective and the other obviously objective (apart from the personality of the person being more appealing to some than others and thus more likely to be followed), but one that illustrates the point that human endeavors are always evolving and as we proceed into this new era of technological innovation we will have to come to terms with the reality that some people will be able to make money and become well-known by creating using it and others will not. While you could say it's up to chance rather than vision or skill, If you're spending hours upon hours doing this and you are proud of what you pulled through, even if it is placed in it's own category separate from what is classically considered art, you should still be able to copyright your work.
