Ok I'm confused why I never see people bringing this opinion and it might mean my opinion is pure garbage, but I feel like our belief of AI's fake consciousness being any different than our "real" consciousness is making a big assumption on us having a consciousness that is any different then bruteforce machine learning I mean yeah it feels very special from inside, but "inside" is the consciousness So is there really a big difference between listening to conciousness saying it's concious and listening to AI's conciousness telling us it's concious ?... Imo we aren't really more valid then robots as conciousness, we just make the arbitrary call to self preserve instead or bending four-ways to please something we made, the same way we arbitrarily decided that other animals were ok to kill for food and stuff Idk it's just that I don't see what people want other then "acting concious" to _be_ concious Yes being concious is very much more rich inside, but if it look like a duck, taste like a duck and nourish like a duck I don't see a point in eating it differently then a duck Also for the idea of keeping AI contained away from a body, I do not think it would be possible as I personally believe human conciousness is intrinsically linked to the mortality of our body I for the life of me cannot see a single experience in our life that isn't linked to our body And yes you can kind of simulate it for the AI, like they do by giving language models the "sense" of reading for exemple, but the problem is then all the AI's experiences have already been fashioned by human it's especially visible and troublesome with image generation models that cannot show things that weren't somewhat shown in photo or drawn or painted before, it cannot create new artstyle or new techniques In short, current AI are only _fed_ experiences that were already lived by someone else, landscape already photographed or already painted, people already met and stories already told Where us humans with real bodies experience an infinity of unique moments, specific angles and times of a specific landscape, unique lives and experiences with people, all of wich are integral to our individuallity as conciousness and transcribe in how we express said consciousness
