Sci-fi can help us with this. In the Mass Effect games there is a particular mission where you are tasked with dealing with a rogue ai. Essentially what we are talking about here with ai taking over and humans losing control is an ai that has been programed or re-programmed itself so that it is operating on its own. We need to manage that and make sure that we are using ai as highly advanced hammers, and not allowing it to make strings of autonomous decisions and put them into action
