Superintelligent/decently intelligent AI will persuade those in power to provide the rest of us what we need to survive or be placated, however slowly. To not do so would mean violent revolution will be inevitable, which would be both preventable and endanger both the AI and its owners.
Unfortunately this will happen too late, and since it only takes 2 months for people to starve without food, income, assets, or savings, there will likely be many deaths while the rich up top twiddle their thumbs and remain silent to protect their bag.
