Democracy should first and foremost, go with public interests but empathy with humans is simply not feasible when it goes beyond a certain population size. Leaders try to gain political power to lengthen their stay so they can stay in the game, not to service their people. They elect people to do their biding, get what they want, including spending lots of money on setting up hierarchies, media influences to brain wash their sheeps, until all sheeps obey, follow and wont rebel. Then they'll have the ultimate power to decide on policies favourable to them. In the capitalist system, that's money. From the top down, corporations esp mncs, then have the freedom to lie and manipulate bcoz democracy gives them the power. And their interest is to max profits, not to sell truths, truths cannot max their profits. We've already repeatedly experienced how democracy long strayed from their original path of serving people but it's incredible how obedient fearful sheeps refuse to acknowledge the changes. The revolution has been going on since 2018 (ie lower birth rates, suicide, burn outs, professionals leaving corporate for good) so I wonder how much longer would it go on for until more people wake up and say no to illusionary stories that in truth only benefits those who wants to continue holding power.
