Silly physicists believe that consciousness arises from complex systems when the opposite is true; complex systems arises from consciousness. Most people equate knowledge with consciousness but the two are completely different. Knowledge is dead, it's the past. Every "thing" you know is the past. Consciousness is alive, it's the present and it's what moves the past into the future. So, no, AI will not become sentient or conscious. It will, however, do a convincing simulation of consciousness seeing as it already has some people fooled.
