I wouldn't say AI "learns" but it still does do the same thing humans do, we all draw from inspirations because there is still, and will always be an extreme lack of "original ideas." Even ideas that may at first seem original are probably things someone else already thought of but couldn't pull off due to whatever reason, be it technology or lack of personal skill, either way it's no longer an original idea. I personally theorize that we ran out of truly original ideas somewhere around 2000 or 3000 years ago, yeah, about the time Davinci created the "flying machine." That was his idea, not the Wright brothers, they were just the ones to perfect it. My only real problem with AI is the sourcing of training data. while I also think the copyright system is a total waste of time, effort, and energy to interact with, the way many AI companies are just slurping everything up without giving anything back is definitely scummy. As a disabled person myself with lower than average art skills, the most I would ever use AI for in my art is minor touchups to do things like smooth edges and better match colors, things that are actively difficult for a low vision person. My other stipulation is that it would be a closed system, ran on my local computer, trained by my own ethically sourced dataset. This would be an adaptation rather than a substitution. I actually support the sustainable and ethical rise of AI but let me tell ya, what we're seeing now fueled by capitalistic greed just isn't the right way to build AI and will most definitely result in humanity's downfall.
