I know for a fact Nightshade still protects images as several artists I know have been scraped despite using Nightshade have never seen their art style copied by AI. One in particular knew who had scraped his art and tried to get the image generators to create images in his style using his name (which I won't name drop since he's an NSFW creator) and nightmare fuel it spat out showed Nightshade is doing its job.
Also the best anti-AI quote I ever saw sums it up: "I want AI to do my dishes and laundry so I can spend that time on art, not have AI do my art so I can spend that time doing my dishes and laundry."
