I'm a disabled artist. I have troubles. It doesn't mean I need a computer to put together a snapshot collage and pretend it's an original piece that I created all on my own. I put in the work, I put in the time.
On the "But digital medium new and good!" front ... yeah digital is a medium but it's a medium where you still have to put in the effort of actually making the damn thing. In fact my digital pieces take LONGER and MORE EFFORT than my traditional ones BECAUSE there's so many tools I can use to improve my digital art and push it beyond anything I could do traditionally. AI is not that.
People defending it remind me of the idiot kids who used to try to charge other kids for their "art" but their art was literally just them using tracing paper on DBZ printouts.
