For anyone who is interested in joining the fight against AI but often at a loss for words, here was a piece I wrote in protest of one of the most common arguments about AI somehow enhancing creativity.
"The definition of creativity *ends* the moment there is any aspect of the art which you fail to control in a way that *matters* to the artwork. In the visual arts, there is a specific area which needs you to have control, to be creative with. However, to have a creative concept that you feed into the machine is different from having a creative concept and then acting upon it. Photography is counted as a visual art only because it follows this rule-it takes time and effort to set up the perfect shot, to capture the exact angle you want, to position everything as is. You might not be creating the objects, but you controlled the when and where, and you fine tuned every little detail."
Don't give up. I am a writer, a different field of art, and yet we are threatened all the same, but we can fight back all the same. Bravo, Lavender.
