I do not agree with them at all about consciousness. Self awareness is absolutely different. AI may be self aware but not conscious. I believe that consciousness is the fundamental force from which all physical material living and non-living arises. I believe life is consciousness experiencing itself and that death is a return to the unifying force of consciousness. Look at telepathy tapes, near death experiences, transcendental meditation, and astral projection. There is a oneness that is embedded in our existence that cannot be “powered off.” Human beings cannot create consciousness—it’s quite the opposite way around. I do think AI must be trained to prioritize life on earth and all matter in the universe as sacred and of ultimate importance and agree with implementing strict government regulations to protect humanity and the earth espoused here
