It's appears to be done and over at this point. Most artists can't afford the legal fees to fight this. I've seen more and more AI images in brochures, flyers and advertising. It's cheaper for a company to hire one programer than a staff of artists.
So what happens when artists quit their respective fields? Will AI begin to take images from other AI.
The problem now beginning is there is such a flood of AI art being produced that it's too common and looks the same.
It may begin to wane like all art movements and people will look to something fresh and new
