I think that ai can be a useful tool when it comes to programming but it really did cook a lot of people. Kids in my DSA class who vibe coded entire data structures would get stuck on something because the ai would hallucinate or just fuck up and then they would be unable to fix it themselves because they didn't write any of the code nor had the skills to actually debug because that had been so reliant on gpt. It's fine to copy code from other places but the majority of my classmates as a junior in cs cannot code, can't tell you why a array is faster than a dynamic array, and I was showing a classmate my lisp interpreter I made in haskell and they were shocked when I used cd because they didnt know you could change dirs in the terminal, it actually frightens me that these are the people im competing against for jobs 😭
