There’s also the argument, as an artist myself, of all artists copying due to naturally taking inspiration, but it’s about the meaning behind it, and the way you apply the things you’ve learned and inherited and copied, and 90% of ai users (I’m NEVER calling them artists) and ai companies (crooks lol) don’t have any of that meaning or intention behind it and have zero regard for the time, effort, thought, technique, anything that went into it. Edit: If I make something that looks really cool, then I want to call it my own, especially as someone who hates copying of all types if it has no positive intention. If you prompt an AI to spit out an image that looks like my art, that’s not yours, that’s not the AI’s, that’s not the company’s, and now you’ve plagiarised it using AI, it’s not mine, the artist in this scenario, either. That’ll be how these artists whose style and pieces have been copied will feel too.
