Thank you Sam for speaking about this! First of all, I'm really sorry for what happened to you (and ofc also other artists) in regards to all this AI mess, when I first heard about it, it genuinely made me sick... For me personally, it made me lose a LOT of motivation to draw these last couple months. "whats the point if all I do can just be stolen and 'recycled' into something 'new' this easily" and many similar thoughts went through my head in this time. But seeing the protest on f.e. ArtStation (or excuse me, AIStation) made me hopeful, seeing how many people care about our rights as artists. I agree with you that AI is, sadly, here to stay, but we should still fight for a future in which we as artist can happily coexist with AI and not have to worry about our art being taken without our consent. In general, right now, I feel like AI itself is less of the problem. It's the people using, and creating these AI systems who are the main issue... And also... Merry Crisis! (sorry I couldn't resist)
