I'm kind of anti-AI (I may use it once in a while though (not the art ones)) but I can somewhat get a thing. Even considering talent does not exist and it's all experience, everyone just can't become as good as they would want.
Despite being one of the most under-recognised professions, drawing is on of the most scritly judged. There is a universe between a drawing people looking over your shoulder would call "good" and a drawing that actual randoms would follow you for. If you post online a drawing that 5 of your friends said to be good, you would get like 3 likes and 1 follow. People, especially non-artists, are expecting from artists to do high-quality professional-level art. And it's going worse and worse as we go because medium level artists start being not confident enough to show their work, because the only comparisons are artists that already are highly skilled.
Given this, a beginner would want to reach this level. The thing is, it needs a lot of practice. And depending on your base learning speed, you may stagnate a lot of time. You may learn quicker by using books or a teacher, but you need money. Tutorials on YouTube, as with everything, can help, but can't be enough to actually learn quickly. The only efficient way of learning is practicing.
But practicing cost time. Yes, some people can draw a whole portrait in an hour (regardless of the quality of said portrait), but some others need two whole afternoon in order to draw a single portrait. But these people also need to eat, go to work, sleep, have other hobbies, clean their house, go to the grocery store, etc. Someone that doesn't have much of free time and that needs like 15 hours for a single drawing may end up with a pace of two or three drawings per months or something.
Yes, talent is a myth, but it doesn't mean everyone is equal. So, when someone can't get skilled enough to draw the things they want in a decent time, and don't have the money to pay an experienced artist, AI is one of the best solution in terms of first-sight quality.
Though, this needs to be nuanced because there are people that are just lazy or hypocritical, but I believe deeply that there are just people that feel, not like they're not talented enough, but that they won't have enough time to become.
