Two points: 1) to solve this problem, use AI. If it's that powerful, AI will provide the solution of how to maintain a democratic and humane society in the presence of AI. If it cannot provide that answer, it's not that powerful, so don't be so worried. Win-win. 2) We've been through this before. Computers and automation machines do many of the jobs people used to do. Unemployment levels are normal. That tells you that technology does not necessarily lead to catastrophic job loss. It is disruptive, so let's use AI to help guide us on how to minimize the disruption (see point #1).
